What’s in a name

Why did I chose “Who Said Photography”

Who Said “What’s in a name that which we call a rose? – William Shakespeare

Why the name “Who Said Photography’? Well, let’s see if I can explain, I was a young boy, taking a shortcut through the school yard, I heard, “Hey, kid! Do you want to play?”. It came from a bunch of guys that were over at the baseball field; so I went over to play. Had a great time playing a game of baseball with a bunch of people I didn’t know. From that point on, I always wanted to be that guy, outgoing and asking people if they wanted to play.

Often in my travels, I find myself eating or stopping at some out of the way small town restaurants, gas stations, or coffee shops with people I don’t know. At times, I hear somebody talking about photography, and my ears always perked up. Hence, the name” Who Said Photography”.
Getting to know the locals at these restaurants and coffee shops is great fun. I found very few that aren’t willing to share. They know of some of the greatest spots to go and take pictures. More than once I’ve travelled down some old dirt road with nothing more than a map drawn on a napkin. Trying to locate an old farmhouse or a scenic view that’s been described in great detail by the local. So, next time you’re out hunting/searching for a new place to shoot, do not be afraid to stop in for a coffee at the local restaurant and just sit and listen. Be very, very quiet (bugs bunny reference) you may be amazed at the information you will pick up for some great places to go and take pictures. Oh yeah! One more thing, have fun, that’s what it’s all about; that guy or gal that says, “Hey do ya want to play?”.
